Leonardo DiCaprio 'Ageist' Jokes NOT Funny: Ex Kristen Zang Defends Actor Amidst Camila Morrone Split
It looks like Twitter needs time to reflect on their memes. Leonardo DiCaprio's ex girlfriend Kristen Zang speaks out against headlines and remarks on his recent split with Camila Morrone.
Following the "Titanic" star's recent split with Camila Morrone, who notably just turned 25 years old, fans have come up with theories and memes referencing the actor's history of breaking up with his exes when they reach a certain age. The pair, who sparked dating rumors in January 2018, reportedly split after nearly four years of dating in August.
In a recent essay from People, Leonardo DiCaprio's ex-girlfriend Kristen Zang speaks out on the 'ageist' headlines and remarks against the "The Wolf of Wall Street" star amidst his dating history.
"Now over 20 years later when I read the headlines and online comments with his most recent ex-girlfriend being referred to as having 'aged out' or being 'too old for Leo at 25,' puh-lease (insert dramatic eye roll)." Zang wrote in her essay. "I think we can and should do better. What kind of message is this sending to young people?"
Zang, evidently pressed, recalled that she and DiCaprio had broken up about four months after her 25th birthday, to which she wrote, "ha, I know what you're thinking". The former actress emphasized the need to stop with "ageist" remarks on DiCaprio's relationship.
"As far as Leo and his latest breakup, who knows what happened. Maybe she really cared for him but was just ready for the next chapter, perhaps it's temporary, or maybe it's none of our business but can we stop with the ageist headlines and comments? But let's keep the funny memes coming, they're stellar. Truly." Zang expressed.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kristen Zang Dating History
The "Don't Look Up" star dated the former actress from 1995 to 1999, according to People. She also mentioned a brief fallout with DiCaprio in 1997, but later on got back together. The actress implied that it was her decision to end things with the actor in 1999.
After her acting career, she founded a locally-sourced dog food company, Emma Lou's Kitchen. Zang concluded her essay by reflecting on how she was "barely scratching the surface of life" at the age of 25. The former actress is happily married with her husband, Shea, whom she met at 38 years old.
