'Squid Game' Director Wants THIS Hollywood Actor on Next Seasons of Hit Netflix Series
"Squid Game" director Hwang Dong Hyuk has a broader plan for the hit Netflix series after its upcoming season 2.
The first season of "Squid Game" waited for years before savoring major success globally, outshining the other hit series like "Bridgerton." The overwhelming support and attention it got led director Hwang Dong Hyuk to extend the story with its upcoming season 2.
Although the next installment will focus on the revenge of Lee Jung Jae's Seong Gi Hun, the showrunner has a lot of plans in mind already - including having Leonardo DiCaprio on board.
Deadline recently quoted director Hwang Dong Hyuk's statement, in which he expressed his wish to work with the Hollywood actor.
"Leonardo DiCaprio did say he's a big fan of Squid Game. So maybe if time or chances allow, we can ask him to join the games. We have already joked about that," he said.
He, however, clarified that he would not include Hollywood stars in "Squid Game" season 2. But he is not closing the doors to change it in future seasons of the Netflix series.
The director also revealed to the news outlet that the next installment has a larger budget compared to what season one had. With the unmatched anticipation ahead of the new series, Hwang Dong Hyuk wishes that there will not be leaks or spoilers in order to maintain the suspense for viewers.
What "Squid Game" Season 2 Will Be All About
Following the announcement of season two, the director told The Hollywood Reporter one of the plot points he wants to focus on.
Per Hwang Dong Hyuk, he wants to tell everyone the story of the police officer and his missing brother, who turned out to be the Front Man of the Squid Game.
He then confirmed the return of Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, and Jung Hoyeon - who might return as her character's twin sister.
