Wendy Williams Almost Died In 2020, Friends Saved Host's Life
Wendy Williams has been through a lot in recent years, including a near-death experience.
After divorcing her longtime husband, Kevin Hunter, the former daytime diva began to slip downward.
The 56-year-old also lost her show "The Wendy Williams Show" and struggled with several health and drug abuse.
Why Wendy Williams Almost Died in 2020
Wendy Williams, according to close pals who spoke to Page Six, received two blood transfusions in 2020 due to her escalating alcohol addiction.
Things began to heat up because Wendy's old manager, Bernie Young, was attempting to keep things quiet so Wendy's career wouldn't be wrecked.
According to one source, Bernie had no idea what was going on, and he didn't believe the former DJ would either if he wanted it to come out.
Bernie also allegedly did not want a 911 call like the one that occurred a year later, which an insider described as a "mess."
"She was in her robe, it was dirty, she was catatonic, she was in a very, very awful state. She was gazing at the ceiling. She was just not responding, but her eyes were open, but she was certainly in a catatonic state," the source said of the event.
Wendy's New York City penthouse was also said to include a case of booze, several accessible bottled wines, and Ketel One.
They began to clean away a lot of liquor since Wendy Williams was "about to die" at the time, according to an unidentified close friend.
"She literally couldn't stand up; she was lying on top of the covers, and she needed 911 assistance, and [Young] was like, 'We're not getting 911.'"
Wendy Williams' ex-husband Kevin Hunter encouraged her to seek medical attention or engage a sober coach because he thought she needed assistance.
Wendy Williams' Life Saved
Wendy Williams' buddy DJ was apparently the "savior of her f-----g life" when he transported the former talk show host to the hospital, where she stayed for four or five days and had no recollection of what had transpired the day before.
Wendy was "at death's door," according to a source close to the mother of one.
"If we hadn't been there that day, she wouldn't be here; she wouldn't have made it; she wouldn't have made it if it hadn't been for Kevin and Ron Clinton and his crew."
Wendy Williams Update Now
Wendy Williams' manager, Shawn Zanotti, stated that his client, who is presently in a recovery center, is not focused on anything from her past.
They are concentrating on using this time to help her continue to improve and progress.
