Isiah Jones Cause of Death Terrifying: Young Boxer Dead at 28 After Unexpected Event
Boxer Isiah Jones faced a tragic incident that left him dead. He was 28 years old.
The boxing industry lost a young member when Jones reportedly died on Monday. His trainer, Roshawn Jones, first confirmed the saddening news to The Ring.
According to the trainer, Jones passed away after he was shot in the head during a heated argument with his brother. This has been confirmed by the Detroit Police Department, saying that a 28-year-old was indeed shot and killed by a relative 9300 block of Stout Street.
The shooting happened on Monday around 6:26 p.m., the report added.
Meanwhile, the police department confirmed to a news outlet that no arrests have been made yet as of press time.
Roshawn's official Twitter account, meanwhile, shared a video compilation of the boxer's matches to remember his legacy.
"Isaiah Jones (9-7-0) is a Pro Boxer out of Detroit, Michigan, a fellow member of Soul City Boxing and Wrestling Gym, our last fight was against Roy jones jr Promotion Team!  Isaiah, Lost his life yesterday in a tragic event! Please keep his family in your prayers to help them get through these rough times!" the caption read.
Following the emergence of the news, his fans and colleagues expressed their heartbreaks online and paid tribute to the late boxer.
Isiah Jones' Career
Jones, before his death, made an amateur record of 52-2 and pro record of 9-7, with three knockouts.
Among the competitions he joined in, he was more renowned when he won the 2016 National Golden Gloves. It led him to turn pro and won his eight fights under Roshawn and Kenneth Ross. However, he lost seven of his next eight bouts.
In addition, he fought three times during "The Bubble" at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and on the Canelo Alvarez-Callum Smith undercard.
Roshawn revealed that he tried to convince Jones to relocate to Toledo, Ohio, due to the concerns about him living in Detroit. He added that the boxer had two children, leading him to participate in challenging fights just to earn money and provide for them.
The trainer, in the end, described him as a hard worker father who was also a role model in the gym due to his very respectful and humble nature.
The family is yet to confirm funeral details.
