Tiffany Haddish, Aries Spears Out of Hot Water: Judge Dismisses Sexual Abuse Allegations
Following controversial legal allegations, comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears get away scot-free as the court dismisses complaints against them.
Legal allegations filed by two unnamed minors claim that they were victims of child sexual abuse by stars Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears. The incidents, which allegedly happened separately in 2013 and 2014, accuse Haddish and Spears of instigating the two minor's participation in sexually suggestive videos.
However, a recent report from Entertainment Weekly reveals that the plaintiff requested the judge to dismiss the case with prejudice, which means that the complaint cannot be filed again. According to a statement obtained by TMZ, one of the unnamed minors, under the pseudonym Jane Doe, stated:
"My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years - and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us. We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us."
The two unnamed minors, under pseudonyms Jane Doe and John Doe, were allegedly 14 years old and 5 years old, respectively, during the year of the incident.
Haddish and Spears' Initial Statement
Initially, the comedian Haddish had given her public statement on the allegations in an Instagram post, stating that while she wanted to answer questions regarding the issue, there was a legal case that held her back from doing so.
Separately, comedian Aries Spears acknowledged the legal allegations during an episode of his podcast, "Spears & Steinberg". The "Mad TV" star claimed that the recent accusations against him and Haddish were extortion attempts.
Did Haddish's Attorney See This Coming?
Amidst the controversy surrounding Haddish, her attorney, Andrew Brettler, expressed their dismissal of the "meritless" claims in an interview with CNN. Brettler also mentioned that the narrative against Tiffany Haddish has gone on for years without being taken by an attorney from the complainant's side.
"Every attorney who has initially taken on her case," the attorney stated, referring to the complainant's case, "and there were several -- ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms. Haddish would not be shaken down".
Echoing Attorney Brettler's statement, Spears' lawyer, Debra Opri, stated initially that their client wasn't "going to fall for any shakedown".
