Johnny Depp's Return to 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Still IMPOSSIBLE After Recent Positive Updates
Disney is yet to offer good news about Johnny Depp and his potential "Pirates of the Caribbean" return.
The highly anticipated annual D23 event in the US successfully gave way to the company's biggest news about its upcoming film projects. Disney also shared some updates on the movies it previously confirmed.
Unfortunately, Depp's fans did not hear anything about the franchise, and the attendees only heard about the new MCU, Star Wars, and other Disney-produced films.
They seemingly held their hopes high, especially after the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise's big boss, Jerry Bruckheimer, revealed they were developing two scripts.
"I'm very excited, it's going to be terrific. We're just working on the screenplay. One of the original writers, Ted Elliot, is helping write it. He has a great command of the characters," he told ComicBook.com.
In response to the absence of an announcement regarding the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, fans expressed their dismay online.
Johnny Depp Does Not Want To Return As Captain Jack Sparrow
Amid all fans' wishes to see him wear his pirate costume again, Depp made it clear he would not accept a deal from Disney ever again.
For what it's worth, the internet went wild when an Australian news outlet, Pop Topic, reported that he received a $301 million deal to reprise his Captain Jack Sparrow role. The publication said the company was hopeful Depp could forgive them so he could return to the franchise.
However, a representative for the actor told NBC News (via E! News) said that the report was made up as Depp had no plans on returning. Another spokesperson told Radar Online a similar sentiment, saying that the actor does not want to wear the costume again.
These clarifications came after the "Edward Scissorhands" actor told the court during the defamation trial that he would not take the role again.
He said it was true when he was asked: "If Disney came to you with $300m dollars and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film?"
