Kanye West's 'White Lives Matter' Triggers Netizens To Attack His Bipolar Disorder
On October 3, at his unexpected Yeezy fashion show, Kanye West made a statement by donning a black hoodie with the words "White Lives Matter." Some fans did not like it, even his colleagues in the entertainment scene, claiming it to be a racist thing to wear.
In response to the Black Lives Matter movement, which was founded in 2013 following the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman, fashion models in the rapper's show wore clothing with the message written across it, as if forgetting the implications of such.
Candace Owens, a right-leaning commentator, posed alongside West, 43, wearing a 'White Lives Matter' shirt, and North West, Kanye's nine-year-old daughter, was also present.
This is West's latest attempt to distance himself from the mainstream of black politics. In 2005, West made international headlines when he claimed on a telethon for Hurricane Katrina victims: "George Bush doesn't care about black people."
Since then, though, Kanye has allied himself with right-wing personalities like Owens and President Donald Trump, wearing a Make America Great Again baseball cap in public on a regular basis. West stated in a May 2018 interview discussing his support for Trump that racism is not a deal-breaker for him.
Twitter users are obviously disgusted, some even triggered enough to attack his Bipolar disorder.
"I am Ye, and everyone here knows that I am the leader,' West, 43, said at the event while referencing his new legal name, adding: 'You can't manage me." It is not the first time that Ye has fanned racial controversy; in 2018, he claimed that 400 years of slavery "was a decision."
The Anti-Defamation League has previously deemed "White Lives Matter" to be a hate slogan. This slogan has previously been employed by the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist organizations as an attack on the Black Lives Matter movement and Black people in general.
After the WLM shirt went viral on the internet, the always-outspoken Boosie attacked Ye, accusing him of abandoning his race despite the historical challenges African Americans have experienced. Boosie claims that Ye obviously doesn't care about any Black fatalities at the hands of White people, yet Ye has yet to explain the exact meaning of his most recent racist stance.
