Film critic Emmanuel Noisette shares the story behind his donation drive and how the late Chadwick Boseman inspired him.

Chadwick Boseman debuted in the Marvel cinematic universe as T'Challa AKA Black Panther in the 2016 film, "Captain America: Civil War". In 2018, he starred in his own Marvel original film, "Black Panther".

He, later on, reprised his role in "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame". However, following his quiet battle with colon cancer, Chadwick Boseman died on August 28, 2020, at the age of 43.

With the recent release of the Marvel sequel trailer, "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", fans reminisce about the legacy that Boseman left in the fictional realm of Wakanda.

The 'Wakanda Forever Challenge'

Among the fans that Boseman's cultural impact inspired is film critic Emmanuel Noisette, who has recently gone viral for starting the "#WakandaForeverChallenge: Fight Children's Cancer" initiative on GoFundMe.

Noisette elaborated on his mission in the description of his GoFundMe page, alluding to the late "Black Panther" star as his inspiration behind the fundraiser.

"Chadwick's level of courage is exactly why I'm starting this new #WakandaForeverChallenge. By raising funds we can continue Chadwick's work of bringing hope and support to the children battling cancer in the care of St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. Any donation will help make an impact. The kind folks over at St Jude's are leading the way in treating and defeating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases." Noisette wrote on his GoFundMe description.

According to Noisette, the cultural impact that Boseman brought out of "Black Panther" in 2018 inspired him enough to buy out a theater so that the kids in his community "could see a movie with so much positive representation".

Chadwick Boseman, a Real-life Superhero

Notably, St. Jude's Children's Hospital was one of the institutions that the late Chadwick Boseman visited to inspire children fighting the same battle as him.

Additionally, Noisette recalls an interview with Chadwick on SiriusXM where the actor became emotional talking about two terminally ill children who had been holding on until "Black Panther" premiered. According to Boseman, the two children looking forward to his Marvel film inspired him to keep fighting through his illness at that time.

The upcoming film "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" will star Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, and Angela Bassett. The sequel is set to premiere on November 11, 2022.
