Actress Margot Robbie opened up on her real feelings about Lady Gaga getting cast as the new Harley Quinn for "Joker: Folie à Deux"

Margot Robbie brought the eccentric cartoon character from the "Batman" cartoon series to life for her first live-action appearance in DC's "Suicide Squad" film. She, later on, reprised her role in "Birds of Prey" and the sequel, "The Suicide Squad" where she starred alongside Pete Davidson, Daniela Melchior, Idris Elba, and more.

In August, Grammy winner Lady Gaga announced her next big film role in a tweet, where she is set to portray Harley Quinn in DC's upcoming sequel, "Joker: Folie à Deux" opposite Joaquin Phoenix, who plays the Joker.

The Harley Quinn Legacy

In a recent interview with MTV, the "Birds of Prey" star expressed her thoughts on playing the psychologist turned psycho-villain. Robbie went on to recall her vision for Harley Quinn when she was first casted in the first "Suicide Squad" film.

"[It] makes me so happy, because I said from the very beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters the way... like Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor. Someone gets to do their Batman, or someone gets to do their Macbeth."

Robbie gushed about Harley Quinn.

Margot Robbie on Lady Gaga

When asked about her thoughts on the "Poker Face" singer, Margot Robbie expressed her approval at the cast choice, stating that Lady Gaga will create an "incredible" performance with their shared character from different universes.

"It's such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing. And I think [Gaga will] do something incredible with it." Margot Robbie expressed on Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga's version of the whimsical henchwoman is a different look compared to past versions, wearing a long dress and heels that were teased in her tweet announcement.

Starring opposite Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, "Joker: Folie à Deux" will see the return of Zazie Beetz from the first Joker film and feature newcomers Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland. The upcoming DC film is set to premiere on October 4, 2024.
