Elon Musk Sides With Kanye West After Rapper Gets Banned From Instagram
Elon Musk gives Kanye West a warm welcome on Twitter following the rapper's restriction from Instagram.
"Yeezy" founder Kanye West was recently involved in a content moderation controversy after the rapper took to Instagram and went on a ranting spree regarding his "White Lives Matter" fashion line. Some of Kanye's posts have been deleted and the rapper has since been restricted from posting on Instagram for repeatedly violating policies, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While West's account is still visible to the public, he is likely restricted from posting new content temporarily. As of today, Ye's Instagram feed is all screenshots of texts and rants about his "enemies".
Elon Musk Welcomes Kanye West on Twitter
Now, the "Flashing Lights" rapper took to Twitter to vent out his frustrations on the social media restrictions. Kanye tweeted a photo of himself and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, in what seemed like karaoke with a group. Despite Kanye's apparent diss at the Meta founder, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk took to the replies to give a warm welcome to Kanye West.
"Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!" Elon Musk tweeted in response to Ye's call out to Mark Zuckerberg.
Kanye and Elon's Alliance
Kanye West and Elon Musk's friendship dates back to as early as 2011 when the rapper made a visit to the SpaceX rocket factory, with Elon Musk tweeting a photo of the encounter. Additionally, during the 2020 United States presidential elections, the tech mogul expressed his support for Kanye's presidential campaign.
Additionally, Elon Musk expressed his praise of the 45-year-old rapper when he wrote about him in a 2015 article for Time Magazine.
"Kanye's belief in himself and his incredible tenacity - he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut - got him to where he is today. And he fought for his place in the cultural pantheon with a purpose," Musk wrote for Time Magazine. "He's not afraid of being judged or ridiculed in the process. Kanye's been playing the long game all along, and we're only just beginning to see why."
The two CEOs have posed in several viral photos over the years, including an iconic photo that several users have been tweeting on Ye's Twitter thread.
