Director Tim Burton explains the real reason for recurring collaboration with veteran actor Johnny Depp.

Tim Burton's Frequent Collaborations with Johnny Depp
Horror and fantasy fans can recognize the successful formula that Tim Burton frequently uses in his films, and this usually includes having veteran actor Johnny Depp in the lead role.
Johnny Depp has starred in iconic roles in Burton's films including his portrayal of Willy Wonka in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", Sweeney Todd in "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street", and the Mad Hatter in "Alice in Wonderland".
In a recent interview with Variety during the Lumière Film Festival, the 64-year-old director opened up on his creative decision to recurringly cast Depp as the lead role in his films.
"I connected with him when I met him for Edward Scissorhands. He was similar to me, kind of suburban white trash. It was not even a verbal understanding. It was something I could feel. He liked the characters, he was interested in acting for the art of it, not the business of it. It was exciting to see somebody play different things, the idea of this transformation from film to film always excited me."
No 'Beetlejuice' Reunion?
Fans have recently speculated that Johnny Depp may be a part of the franchise sequel as a user on Twitter took notice of a Google cast listing for "Beetlejuice 2", which includes the "Edwards Scissorhands" star alongside Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder.
To fans' dismay, Tim Burton recently denied the rumors regarding a "Beetlejuice" sequel. However, he expressed that he will keep producing more films for a while.
"Definitely, as an artist, you should always try to see things in a different way, try to keep growing and creating. It's an important part of life. Nothing I've done is perfect, but creating keeps you alive, and it's something you'll want to keep doing no matter how old you are,"
