Director Quentin Tarantino debunks who actually came up with the idea behind his film, "Django Unchained".
Quentin Tarantino is prominently known for his crime and dark humor films including "Kill Bill: Volume 1", "Reservoir Dogs", "Pulp Fiction", and more. Now, in an episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live", the 59-year-old director sets the record straight on his encounter with the "Flashing Lights" rapper, and from whom the original idea really came from.
"I'd had the idea for 'Django' for a while before I ever met Kanye." Quentin Tarantino clarified, then went on to explain, "We used it as an excuse to meet each other and so we met each other we had a really good time. And he did have an idea for a video. I do think it was for the 'Gold Digger' video, that he would be a slave."
Despite having to clarify who actually came up with the idea for the 2012 film, the 59-year-old director expressed that he enjoyed his time with the rapper. Quentin Tarantino elaborated on the concept that Kanye West had pitched to him, which they were not able to produce for reasons unknown.
"It was meant to be ironic. And it's like a huge musical. I mean, like no expenses spared with him in this slave rag outfit, doing everything. And then that was also part of the part of the pushback on it. But I wish he had done it. It sounded really cool. Anyway, that's what he's referring to." Tarantino explained to Kimmel.
Amidst Kanye West's misleading claim to "Django Unchained", the rapper has also been surrounded by controversy following his anti-semitic remarks as multiple brands have cut ties with his brand.
