'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Spoilers: Joss Whedon Says No Thanos VIDEO
Ever since last year's The Avengers made Thanos part of their mid-credits scene, Marvel fans have been anticipating the villain's appearance in the 2015 sequel.
With the announcement of the upcoming films full title, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, at last months San Diego Comic-Con, the approaching appearance of the malicious Titan began to look more and more unlikely.
Writer/director Joss Whedon recently confirmed that Thanos will not make his way into the cornerstone film of Marvel's Phase Two.
"We have to stay grounded," Whedon confided to Total Film regarding the Avengers next enemy. "It's part of what makes the Marvel universe click - their relationship to the real world. It's science-fiction, and Thanos is not out of the mix, but Thanos was never meant to be the next villain. He's always been the overlord of villainy and darkness."
Fans of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) were also sorely disappointed by recent conformations by both Whedon and Hiddleston stating that the Asgardian trickster will not be bringing his delightful brand of evil to harass SHIELD's superheroes in the second Avengers film.
However, MTV posits that Thanos could make and appearance in next year's Guardians of the Galaxy while fans will have to get their fill of Loki when he appears in Thor: The Dark World this November.
