Glee actress Lea Michele will likely attend the Teen Choice Awards, marking her first red carpet and public appearance since the death of her boyfriend and co-star Cory Monteith on July 13. A source explained that though she will attend with her co-stars, Michele was the one who decided to attend the awards show.
“Right now Lea is planning to attend the Teen Choice Awards next week with the entire [Glee] cast,” a source told Hollywood Life this week. "[Glee producer] Ryan Murphy has given her total control on all the decisions for Glee, even the promotional stuff. It was Lea’s choice that they skip the FOX summer party last week — it was just too soon for her — but she feels like she wants to do the Teen Choice Awards because it has a lot of personal meaning for her — but also for the fans."
The source added that Michele is talking about maybe doing a tribute to Monteith on Sunday.
The special also will feature previously announced performances by One Direction and Paramore, and Florida Georgia Line will perform Cruise from their debut album. Additional performers will be announced soon. One Direction is scheduled to open the show with Best Song Ever.
The Teen Choice Awards will be held at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk in California. Get tickets to the show here via Ticketmaster.
