A World Without Kardashians: Kim's Dad Almost Married Elvis' Ex-Wife Priscilla Presley Before Kris Jenner
Priscilla Presley nearly became a Kardashian following her divorce from ex-husband Elvis Presley 50 years ago, according to an author.
While she said in a Q&A event last week that she had "never wanted to marry after" Elvis because "no one could ever match" him, a new Page Six piece by Jerry Oppenheimer claimed that Priscilla allegedly once saw a future with the late Robert Kardashian Sr. following her split from the music legend in the 1970s.
The revelation was reportedly divulged by Joni Migdal, a close friend of Robert and Priscilla, during an interview for Oppenheimer's 2017 book, "The Kardashians: An American Drama."
Migdal claimed to the author that Robert -- the future husband of Kris Jenner and the father of Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and Rob Kardashian -- once wanted to marry Priscilla and build a family with her.
However, their alleged romance reportedly faced challenges due to the lingering presence of Elvis, who was entangled in his own passionate liaison with Linda Thompson, the future wife of Caitlyn Jenner.
Larry Kraines, a close friend of Robert, recounted to Oppenheimer how the lawyer felt perturbed by what he perceived as Elvis' controlling influence over Priscilla. Priscilla and Robert would allegedly be disrupted by calls from Elvis to Priscilla during intimate moments.
Robert allegedly told friends that the singer didn't want his ex-wife seeing other men "because they had [daughter] Lisa Marie, and Elvis was very involved in that," Kraines claimed.
Priscilla and Robert's connection can be traced back to his older brother, Tom Kardashian, who was dating Joan Esposito, the ex-wife of Elvis' road manager. Priscilla became a point of contention between the Kardashian brothers, as Tom also wanted to pursue her romantically.
Eventually, Priscilla's decision to date Robert fueled jealousy and tension between the siblings, Migdal claimed.
Tom, who eventually married Esposito, told Oppenheimer in interviews for the latter's book that he felt Priscilla had been controlling toward his brother during the pair's alleged romance.
However, Migdal claimed that Priscilla sensed Robert's attempts to control her life, akin to Elvis' alleged behavior.
This conflict came to a head when Robert allegedly tried to transform Priscilla into what Migdal described as a "domesticated Armenian housewife."
An attempt by Priscilla to cook dinner for Robert ended disastrously, contributing to her decision to rule out the prospect of marriage.
"Priscilla once tried to make dinner for Robert because he kept asking her, so Priscilla said that one night she cooked asparagus, and she made this, and she made that, and she went out of her way to make it perfect, and he HATED it. She said that after that meal, he never suggested that she make dinner for him again," Migdal claimed, adding that an angry Priscilla declared, "Look, I'm not going to marry anyone until Elvis dies."
Robert would go on to marry Kris in 1978 and have four children with her. The marriage ended in divorce in 1991.
But during Robert's final days in 2003, Priscilla reportedly reached out to him and expressed her love for him, unnamed close sources told Oppenheimer.
The piece comes as Sofia Coppola's new film "Priscilla" shows another side to Priscilla's relationship with Elvis.
The movie, which stars Cailee Spaeny as a young Priscilla and "Euphoria's" Jacob Elordi as Elvis, focuses on their tumultuous relationship while emphasizing just how young she was when the music legend began to court her.
"Priscilla" hit limited theaters last month before expanding wide on Nov. 3.
