What Happened To Zac Efron's Jaw? Surgeon Says Actor 'Likely' Had Work Done On His Face
Zac Efron may have had work done on his face, a celebrity facial plastic surgeon has suggested.
The actor's recent appearance on the cover of Entertainment Weekly for his upcoming film "The Iron Claw" left fans shocked over his seemingly altered look.
While Efron attributed the changes to the after-effects of breaking his jaw in 2013, Dr. Sam Rizk suggested in an interview with the New York Post that there might be more to it.
According to Rizk, Efron might have seized the opportunity to enhance his features during the corrective process.
"He probably took the opportunity, in addition to correcting it, to do something better," the plastic surgeon told the outlet, speculating that Efron might have undergone procedures like jaw advancements, chin implants, mandibular angle implants, or a combination of these.
Rizk went on to point out differences in Efron's eyebrows, suggesting a possible brow lift or Botox injections.
The higher eyebrow arch contributes to a more effeminate appearance, the surgeon said.
Efron's "fuller" cheeks have also raised eyebrows. Rizk dismissed the possibility of cheek implants but claimed that filler injections were "most likely" responsible for the enhanced volume.
While Efron's transformation sparked criticism on social media, with some users expressing disappointment, others remained unfazed.
Efron fans praised his appearance, with one admirer stating, "This man aged like the finest wine."
"Still as dreamy as that rolling stone poster I used to have," another commented.
In a Men's Health interview last year, Efron addressed previous speculation about his jaw, attributing the changes to him falling over at his home and injuring his jaw in November 2013.
He explained how the injury caused his face and jaw muscles to work much harder than before, leading to his masseters growing "really, really big."
Despite online scrutiny, Efron emphasized his focus on his work and the limited value he places on others' opinions about his looks.
"If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do," he told the magazine. "I definitely wouldn't be able to do this work."
Efron's new film, "The Iron Claw," hits theaters on Dec. 22.
