Jimin's Photo Incorrectly Used For Female Korean Actress By Deadline Hollywood; ARMYs Angry At Outlet
Deadline Hollywood was in hot water on Thursday after including a photo of BTS' Jimin instead of South Korean actress Park Ji-min in an article.
Among the many talents that made it to the French César 2024 Revelations list was Park Ji-min for her award-winning performance in the 2022 drama film "Return to Seoul." It follows the story of a 25-year-old French adoptee who returns to Seoul to seek her birth parents.
However, what was supposed to be good news received criticism because the outlet initially used a photo of BTS' Park Jimin instead of the actress' photo.
"Yeah, Mr. Jimin Park was a great actor in that movie - he did just great," one fan tweeted sarcastically. Another stated, "It's really not that hard to do research. Park Ji-min is the actress in 'Return to Seoul.'"
"This is not only unprofessional but also disrespectful to the actress as well. Correct the information and image," commented a third fan.
"It took me a second to Google the cast of 'Return to Seoul' - you should make a habit of visiting Google especially when you're not acquainted with the artists you're writing about before hitting the publish button. Very important!" stated another.
"The fact that you guys wrote 'her' and still put the wrong image. It's just disrespectful to the actress," wrote a fifth fan.
"Actor Jimin debuted, and we didn't know," a sixth user quipped. "Oh well, can't blame [them] though. I think there is only one Park Jimin that the whole world knows," stated another fan.
The photo used in the article has since been edited. However, as of press time, the thumbnail in the shared article link on Deadline's X post still shows the BTS member.
Twenty-eight-year-old K-Pop idol Jimin - born Park Ji-min - debuted as an idol and member of the seven-member K-Pop group BTS in June 2013 under BigHit Entertainment.
Earlier this year, he released his solo debut album "Face."
Meanwhile, the female Park Ji-min Deadline mentioned in its article is an actress who starred in the Cannes 2022 gem "Return to Seoul" as a South Korean who was adopted by a French family at a young age.
Actress Ji-min's role as Freddie in the film was her debut in acting.
