Dad Of Taylor Swift Fan Who Died At Concert Speaks Out: ‘Nothing Will Bring My Daughter Back’
Something unfortunate happened during Taylor Swift's "The Eras Tour" in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil -- a Swiftie died before the concert due to intense heat.
Twenty-three-year-old Ana Clara Benevides reportedly died ahead of Taylor's performance at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro after collapsing due to sweltering temperatures in the area.
Her father, Weiny Machado, reportedly spoke with a local newspaper in Brazil after the incident, saying, "I have no words to express my pain. She left home to fulfill a dream and came back dead."
He also expressed that he wanted the incident investigated and given the reason why the audience was prohibited from bringing water to the concert.
"I want it to be found out whether they were, in fact, prohibited from bringing water, whether there was negligence in providing assistance," Machado stated.
"I lost my only daughter, a happy and intelligent girl. She was about to graduate in Psychology next year," he talked about her daughter who passed away.
Per reports, Ana fainted while she was in the front row. She was reportedly resuscitated at the stadium for about 40 minutes before she suffered a second cardiac arrest while she was in transit to the hospital.
The young fan reportedly died shortly after arriving at a local hospital.
Because of this unfortunate incident, Taylor and her team decided to postpone her second concert in Brazil.
"I can't believe I'm writing these words, but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show," Taylor opened the letter she shared via Instagram Stories. "I can't even tell you how devastated I am by this. There's very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young," she continued.
"The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers and crew has to and always will come first," Taylor added.
Meanwhile, the concert organizer of "The Eras Tour" in Rio de Janeiro, T4F/Time For Fun, announced the implementation of new measures amid the rising temperatures in the area.
According to the organizer's statement, free water will be provided in the queues, entrances and inside the stadium moving forward. Sealed glasses of water and processed food will also be permitted entry into the stadium.
