"Thanks for the birthday well-wishes today, everyone," Biden wrote. "Turns out on your 146th birthday, you run out of space for candles!"
Biden also shared the image on Threads, Meta's new social media platform, with a quip: "I turned 81, and all I got was a new social platform! Thanks for the well-wishes [sic], folks. And to the workers at the birthday candle factory, I hope your union got you overtime."
The image quickly went viral, with many online users posting memes and jokes about Biden's fiery cake.
"81 candles on a cake is absolutely insane," one person on X, formerly Twitter, wrote.
One Taylor Swift fan posted, "Joe Biden with his cake," along with a photo of the singer surrounded by flames.
Another user on the platform quipped, "Can't get over Biden's birthday cake photo," accompanied by a gif from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" showing Will Smith's character setting a pan on fire.
The fiery ring of candles atop the cake also prompted witty comments such as, "Joe Biden got an Olympic torch birthday cake," and questions like, "Does the Secret Service have a fire division?"
Not only did social media users find amusement in the candle-filled confection, but they also turned their attention to Biden's pose in the photo.
One user playfully remarked, "Very relaxed on my birthday. Gripping both sides of the dining table."
Biden spent his special day at the White House, engaged in presidential duties ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
He pardoned a pair of turkeys named Liberty and Bell on the White House South Lawn, a tradition dating back 76 years.
During the ceremony, Biden made more quips about his age, joking that he was only turning 60.
On the same day, his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, 72, welcomed the official White House Christmas tree alongside military families.
