BTS' Jungkook, Jimin, V And RM Start Military Enlistment Process, Big Hit Confirms
BigHit Music, BTS' label, officially announced the military enlistment of the remaining members of the boy group -- RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook -- who were previously revealed to enlist in the military in South Korea before the end of 2023.
Per the label's announcement on Weverse, the remaining member of the "hyung line" of BTS and the three members of the "maknae line" have already initiated their military enlistment process. "The artists are preparing to fulfill their military service duties. We will inform you of further updates in due course," the statement read.
The post was released in different translations -- South Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese.
BTS fans called ARMY shared their reactions on the tweet linking to the Weverse announcement. As of press time, it has garnered over 3.8 million views, 87,000 retweets, 2,700 bookmarks and 14,000 replies.
"We knew it was coming, but seeing it in writing is rough. [We're] sending all of BTS so much love as the remaining [four] start the process of their new journey. We'll wait and celebrate them everyday while they're gone. We'll remind BTS how much we love and support them," one fan tweeted.
"This notification ruined my morning, my day and everything. I can't stop crying right now," an emotional fan wrote. "I didn't mean it when I said my wallet was crying with all the releases... Come back, I'll give you everything," said another fan.
Another expressed, "I feel so grateful to all the members for letting us see their solo activities before they enlist because this was such an amazing time..."
Meanwhile, some fans fought their sadness over the news by assuring themselves that the sooner the members enlist, the faster they will be able to come back.
"The faster they go, the faster they come back," one fan tweeted several times as if giving herself a pep talk.
"The sooner they go, the sooner they will return to us," seconded another fan. A different netizen wrote, "We knew it was coming. Our last notice. Jungkookie's showcase felt a lot like Yoongi's final tour date. There was a look they had -- a look that seemed to be taking it all in. Savoring it. As many have said, the sooner they go..."
Following the huge announcement for ARMYs, phrases like "WE WILL WAIT FOR YOU IN 2025," "BIGHIT," "#APOBANGPO," "ARMY FOREVER BANGTAN FOREVER" and "Bangtan" made the top 10 trends on X.
Apobangpo or AFBF is a term reportedly coined by Jungkook during one of his fan cafe chats with ARMY in 2019. It means "ARMY Forever, Bangtan Forever."
Suga was the latest BTS member to begin his required service. He quietly started fulfilling his service last Sept. 22. Meanwhile, J-Hope and Jin enlisted as active soldiers in the South Korean military in April 2023 and December 2022, respectively.
The group has always assured fans of a reunion in 2025 after all members have completed their required service.
