Meghan Markle Accused Of Laughing At Singer With Autism: 'So Typical Her'
Meghan Markle is in hot water again after some critics accused her of allegedly laughing at a singer with autism.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the annual Autism Acceptance Night at Rogers Arena during the Canucks vs San Jose Sharks game Monday. Miriah Reitmeier, a local professional singer on the autism spectrum, performed the Canadian national anthem.
A clip that made the rounds on social media caught Markle seemingly smiling during Reitmeier's performance. Some felt that she was holding back her laughter while others accused her of laughing at the singer.
"Here is your humanitarian folks. Watch as Meghan Markle laughs at Miriah Reitmeier, [a] local professional singer on the autism spectrum, who was performing the Canadian national anthem. Who laughs at someone with Autism?" one wrote on X (formerly Twitter) alongside the footage of Markle while Reitmeier was on stage.
"Also, who laughs when a senior rider faints and falls off his horse? Look at the faces of the three, that's how you can spot the narcissist," another added with a photo from Markle's first balcony appearance with the royal family. In the snap, she covers her mouth but appears to be holding back her smile while Kate Middleton does the same. However, the Princess of Wales' reaction is noticeably different as she looks concerned. The snap was reportedly captured when Lord Guthrie fell from his horse.
The netizen who shared Markle's recent video also brought back an old clip where the Duchess of Sussex allegedly made the same reaction when Princess Charlotte slipped and fell while they were on the balcony.
"That's so typical her -- laughing at others while being the biggest clown in the room," another user opined.
"Disgraceful..you can see she sniggers then turns to Harry who is stoney-faced. This is not what his mother taught him. Diana was compassion in motion. This is why Markle cannot be a royal," a different netizen wrote.
Meanwhile, some netizens defended Markle. They pointed out that she could be smiling at something else and not at the singer.
"I don't think she was laughing 'at' the singer," one wrote. Another suggested, "OR is she smiling at the camera? After the flash, she looks down."
Several also showed their support for Markle at the event, as she was later seen dancing when the Canucks scored a goal. One said the Duchess of Sussex was "now my favorite royal." Another fan shared the same sentiment and wrote, "Yup! She's definitely my favorite, too."
"I completely adore #MeghanMarkle and #PrinceHarry together they're my favorites, but I'm a long-time Meghan supporter, so yeah!" a different Sussex supporter commented.
While still in Canada, Markle visited the Justice for Girls group to discuss young women's leadership, Daily Mail reported. The duchess dressed comfortably in a white jumper and Ralph Lauren Charmain Silk Wide-Leg trousers, which she previously wore to Wimbledon. Prince Harry was noticeably missing during the visit.
