Police Start Investigation On Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' Brazil Concert After Fan's Death
The unfortunate incident of a Swiftie -- Taylor Swift fan -- dying due to the sweltering temperatures in one of the singer's "The Eras Tour" concerts in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is reportedly being investigated by the Brazilian police.
T4F/Time4Fun, the concert organizer of Taylor Swift's concert last Nov. 17 at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos is now being investigated, according to a representative of the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police Department.
The investigators are reportedly looking into whether T4F was guilty of "endangering the life and health" of the concert's attendees. The company executives of T4F will reportedly be called to testify as well.
Twenty-three-year-old Ana Clara Benevides reportedly died ahead of Taylor's performance at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro last Nov. 17 after collapsing due to sweltering temperatures in the venue.
Per reports, Ana fainted while she was in the front row. She was reportedly resuscitated at the stadium for about 40 minutes before she suffered a second cardiac arrest while she was in transit to the hospital.
The young Swiftie passed away after arriving at a local hospital.
Because of this unfortunate incident, Taylor and her team decided to postpone her second concert in Brazil at the time.
"I can't believe I'm writing these words, but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show," Taylor opened the letter she shared via Instagram Stories. "I can't even tell you how devastated I am by this. There's very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young."
"The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers and crew has to and always will come first," Taylor added.
After the incident, T4F implemented new measures amid the rising temperatures in the area, announcing that it would provide free water in the queues, entrances and inside the stadium moving forward.
In related news, the father of Ana, Weiny Machado, broke his silence a few days after his daughter's death by speaking with a local newspaper in Brazil.
He expressed that he wanted the incident investigated and given the reason why the audience was prohibited from bringing water to the concert.
"I lost my only daughter, a happy and intelligent girl. She was about to graduate in Psychology next year," he talked about her daughter who passed away.
