Kate Middleton Characterized As 'Cold' And 'Part-Time Working Royal' In New Book
Kate Middleton is one of the royals who received unflattering words from Omid Scobie in his new book.
Scobie dished out information about the royals after talking to several sources and some palace insiders in his new book, "Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival." Among the members of the Firm he seemingly criticized was Middleton, whom he labeled "cold," "a part-time working royal" and "Katie Keen," Sky News reported.
"She can be cold if she doesn't like someone," Scobie wrote in an excerpt obtained by Page Six, adding that the Princess of Wales was "never a fan" of her sister-in-law Meghan Markle.
He also labeled the future queen monarch "Katie Keen" because of her alleged keenness. Scobie was seemingly favorable to the Duchess of Sussex, whom he called the "star of the show" and "the new Diana."
In the book, the royal correspondent also claimed that there was "almost zero direct communication" between the female royals for almost four years aside from the "few short pleasantries between the pair since late 2019."
"Kate has learned what is paramount for survival in the system," Scobie added. "Vanishing into your role, giving away nothing, and allowing yourself to embody what the public sees in you."
Scobie also seemingly questioned Middleton's dedication to the royal duties, calling the full-time working member of the royal family technically a "part-time working royal" who reportedly prioritizes her personal style and inoffensive causes to "glide under the radar."
"Where other senior royals are out and about several times a week, meeting people across the length and breadth of the country, Kate has long maintained a smaller work schedule that helped her check off the required royal boxes while saving time for her roles as a mother and a wife," Scobie continued. "The late Queen, too, would take off blocks of time throughout the year to recharge, but she was also known to carry out at least three hundred engagements annually."
The "Finding Freedom" author also portrayed the Duchess of Cornwall as "a woman terrified to do anything more than grinning photo ops," per The Telegraph's Victoria Ward.
While several agreed with Scobie, many were offended by his words. Middleton's supporters felt that he attacked her in his book.
"How the heck can Princess Catherine be lazy, she works constantly. I'd be exhausted," one defended Prince William's wife.
"Neither Omid nor Megan know the Prince and Princess well enough to make such comments. So they're either feeding off each other's bitterness, or they are defaming them for no good reason. Whatever the reason, such cruelty will be punished. Both will have to atone for their sins," another stated.
Prince Harry and Markle previously received intense backlash for Scobie's new book, with some alleging they were involved in it. However, the author insisted they were not part of it, and he never interviewed them for it.
