Inside The $38.9 Million Estate Where Joe Biden Spent His Thanksgiving In With Family
President Joe Biden and his family once again celebrated Thanksgiving at a private equity billionaire's lavish estate in Nantucket, Massachusetts.
David Rubenstein's sprawling 13,000-square-foot waterfront retreat is nestled on a 14-acre private compound in Abrams Point, a historic locale named in honor of Abram Quary, one of the last surviving Wampanoag Native Americans.
The estate has undergone a remarkable transformation since its acquisition for $8 million in 1998, the New York Post reported.
Now valued at $38.9 million, the property boasts an 8,000-square-foot main residence and five additional structures, including a guest house and a pool pavilion.
It also features amenities such as a hot tub and tennis court.
The Bidens have spent the last few Thanksgivings at the estate, which sits off Polpis Road.
Rubenstein, a co-founder of The Carlyle Group, reportedly spends just 12 days a year at this picturesque abode.
Records cited by The Post reportedly indicate that President Biden has stayed at Rubenstein's home for the annual holiday since 2014.
The Bidens, who arrived in Nantucket on Nov. 21, were on the exclusive island until Sunday for this year's Thanksgiving week visit.
Their visits to Nantucket date back to 1975, marking the beginning of a four-decade tradition.
Biden, then a first-term senator from Delaware, and his wife Jill spent their first Thanksgiving together on the island, a decision described in the president's memoir "Promise Me, Dad" as an "act of diplomacy" to navigate multiple invitations.
Over the years, Nantucket Thanksgiving has become a cherished tradition for the Biden family. President Biden has participated in island events like the Christmas tree-lighting ceremony and the Thanksgiving Day Cold Turkey Plunge, The New York Times reported.
This year, President Biden and the first lady were joined by their daughter, Ashley, and her husband, Howard Krein, as well as the president's son, Hunter, his wife Melissa, and their young son, Beau.
They were also joined by other grandchildren, Naomi, Finnegan, Maisy and Hunter, according to the White House.
Returning to the White House on Sunday night, the Bidens brought the holiday spirit with them.
On Monday, the first lady unveiled the 2023 White House holiday decorations, with the theme "Magic, Wonder and Joy."
The elaborate display includes 98 Christmas trees and took over 300 volunteers a full week to complete.
