Marvel Star Sebastian Stan To Play Donald Trump In New Movie About 'Power And Ambition'
Sebastian Stan is set to portray former President Donald Trump in the upcoming biographical film, "The Apprentice."
Production for "The Apprentice" began this week, featuring a stellar cast that includes Jeremy Strong from "Succession" and Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova, Deadline reported.
The movie, directed by Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi, is described as "an exploration of power and ambition, set in a world of corruption and deceit."
Set in the 1970s and 80s, the film will focus on Trump's journey from his early years to becoming a prominent New York real estate tycoon.
It will also spotlight his relationship with Roy Cohn, a controversial attorney who played a pivotal role in Trump's life.
Described as a "mentor-protege story that charts the origins of an American dynasty," the movie is set to uncover the "moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers."
Stan will play a young Donald Trump, with Strong taking on the role of Roy Cohn and Bakalova playing Trump's first wife, Ivana.
The announcement of this film comes as Trump faces trial in New York for fraud. Despite multiple legal challenges, the former president remains the leading Republican candidate for 2024.
Stan, known for his Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, recently received acclaim for his portrayal of rocker Tommy Lee in Hulu's "Pam & Tommy." He is also set to star in "The Thunderbolts" in 2025.
Strong won an Emmy for his performance as Kendall Roy in HBO's "Succession." He also starred in the 2022 film, "Armageddon Time."
Bakalova is known for her roles in "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" -- for which she received an Oscar nomination -- "Bodies Bodies Bodies" and "The Bubble."
Abbasi's most recent film was "Holy Spider," which was Denmark's official entry for the Best International Feature Oscar. Abbasi directed two episodes for the first season of HBO's smash hit video game adaptation, "The Last of Us."
Gabriel Sherman, a New York Times bestselling author and journalist, penned the script for "The Apprentice."
The executive producers include Sherman, Grant Johnson, and Amy Baer, in association with Mark Rappaport's Kinematics.
No other detail about "The Apprentice," including the release date, has been announced as of this writing.
