Florence Pugh became the latest victim of a disturbing trend where fans throw random objects at stars onstage.

Pugh was hit in the face by an item during a "Dune: Part Two" panel at a Comic-Con event in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday.

The incident occurred as Pugh stood with director Denis Villeneuve and co-stars Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler and Zendaya in front of a hall full of fans.

A video from the event circulating on social media showed that an object was thrown from the crowd, striking Pugh around her eye.

The actress was seen recoiling, touching her face with her hand and reaching for the item that fell on the ground.

In another video posted on X, formerly Twitter, it appeared that Pugh was hit with two bracelets, according to a fan's observation.

The director and other cast members looked shocked and checked on Pugh to ensure she was not injured.

Pugh appeared to gesture that she was OK, but the incident cast a pall over the event.

Online reactions expressed disgust at the fan's behavior, with one user on X writing: "Don't do that. Be respectful."

The incident follows a similar trend where entertainers, including Ari Lennox, Kelsea Ballerini, Harry Styles and Taylor Swift, have faced objects thrown onstage.

Swift, during a concert in Buenos Aires, calmly addressed a fan who threw an item, emphasizing the importance of not endangering performers and maintaining boundaries.

This unsettling trend has put performers at risk of injury. Bebe Rexha, for instance, required stitches in June after being hit by a thrown phone, leading to the arrest and assault charges for the culprit.

Meanwhile, just moments before the incident, Pugh opened up about her excitement for the "Dune" panel.

"I had an amazing time coming in and just hanging around with these people, let alone actually getting to work with them," she said, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"Coming in here -- the power in this room -- is because of that first movie, and we felt that when we went on set every single day. So it feels really, really special being here with the second one," she added.

"Dune: Part Two" follows Paul Atreides (Chalamet) as he "unites with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen while seeking revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family," an IMDb synopsis for the film read.

"Dune: Part Two" will hit theaters on March 1, 2024.
