Taylor Swift Addresses Backlash From NFL Fans Annoyed By Her Broadcast Attention
Since getting spotted watching the National Football League (NFL) game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, on Sept. 24, American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has made it a habit to attend the games of the Chiefs to cheer for her boyfriend Travis Kelce, making her a hot topic during NFL broadcasts.
Talking about the broadcast attention she's getting during her NFL games attendance, which may have annoyed some NFL fans, Taylor said she was just attending to support her new beau.
"I'm just there to support Travis," she told Time in an interview. "I have no awareness of if I'm being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads and Chads."
According to Taylor, she does not even know where the cameras are or how the photographers know what suite she's in during the games.
"There's a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don't know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don't know if I'm being shown 17 times or once," Taylor said.
The "1989" artist confessed that her appreciation for football evolved since dating Kelce.
"Football is awesome, it turns out. I've been missing out my whole life," she shared.
As of late, Taylor has been spotted watching the five games of the Kansas City Chiefs against the Chicago Bears (Sept. 24), New York Jets (Oct. 1), Denver Broncos (Oct. 12), Los Angeles Chargers (Oct. 22) and Green Bay Packers (Dec. 3).
In the piece, Taylor also commented on her romantic relationship that played out so publicly.
"This all started when Travis adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell."
According to Taylor, she started hanging out with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end after that and was grateful that they had significant time spent getting to know each other that no one knew about.
Addressing those who think their first date was during the Chiefs vs. Bears game, the 33-year-old Time Person of the Year 2023 said, "By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date."
"When you say a relationship is public, that means I'm going to see him do what he loves, we're showing up for each other, other people are there, and we don't care," Taylor added.
