Diddy Enraged Because Cassie Wouldn't Have Sex With Him, Songwriter Tiffany Red Claims
Tiffany Red, a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, has come forward with a detailed account of the night she claims to have witnessed abuse involving Sean "Diddy" Combs and his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura.
In an open letter published in Rolling Stone Thursday, just a day after the music mogul broke his silence on the accusations against him, Red corroborated her friend's allegations of abuse against Combs in her recently settled lawsuit.
Ventura's lawsuit, filed in November and settled within a day, accused Combs of controlling and isolating her, plying her with drugs, beating her, and forcing her to have sex with male prostitutes during their years-long relationship. The rapper vehemently denied the allegations.
Red claimed to have witnessed an alleged heated confrontation between Ventura and Combs at a karaoke spot in 2015.
In her letter, the singer-songwriter, 36, disclosed that she was present at Ventura's 29th birthday party at a hotel, where Diddy surprised his then-girlfriend.
Red stated that the atmosphere became uncomfortable when Ventura decided to leave the party for a karaoke spot called Blind Dragon on Sunset Boulevard.
Combs, reportedly unhappy with her departure, allegedly followed them, leading to an alleged confrontation in a hallway where Ventura appeared afraid, and Red felt helpless.
"When I walked out of the room, you had her backed into a corner in the hallway outside of the door, and your security surrounded you two as you cursed her out with your hands in her face," Red alleged of Combs in her letter.
"She and I briefly made eye contact. I felt helpless. She looked afraid and kept looking down at the floor. I didn't know what to do. I was scared," she continued.
According to Red, the birthday celebration was cut short because Combs allegedly wanted Ventura to leave with him.
Red claimed Ventura asked her to meet her at her home and stay the night, and she did so because she was "worried" Combs would "hurt" her pal. She added that Ventura allegedly had confided in her about Combs being physically abusive before.
Ventura allegedly told the Grammy winner that she didn't want to go with Combs that night and looked "uneasy" when the rapper came to take her with him, according to the letter.
Hours later, Red, who stayed at Ventura's home that night, was awakened by Combs, who was allegedly intoxicated, shouting derogatory remarks at the songwriter.
Red claimed that Cassie "appeared sedated and very withdrawn" when she returned, adding: "It was the first time I saw her this way."
Red alleged that Combs was enraged because Cassie would not have sex with him, so she told the billionaire record executive, "She doesn't have to have sex with you if she doesn't want to."
However, Combs allegedly responded, "She gone get this d---," before the couple left together once more.
Ventura allegedly later told Red that a "Freak Off," described as an arrangement where Combs allegedly made his then-girlfriend perform sexual acts with male sex workers, occurred that night.
The songwriter went on to write that she was "disturbed to [her] core" that the songs she and Ventura worked on were played in the background during the alleged "nightmare."
Red also claimed to have witnessed other "concerning instances."
"There were occasions when I heard you yelling at her and making threats, observed her so high I was afraid of her overdosing at a party you threw for her in Malibu, and witnessed both of you getting IVs after a different night of partying," she alleged in her open letter.
Red emphasized the negative impact of these events on her career and the music she and Ventura created together.
According to the singer, recalling the "distressing memories" caused physical reactions, including "sweaty palms, racing heart, and the onset of a panic attack."
"I am traumatized by you," Red wrote of Combs.
In addition to Ventura, three other women have come forward to accuse Combs of sexual assault.
The latest lawsuit, filed this week, alleged the rapper's involvement in the gang rape and sex trafficking of a 17-year-old student in 2003.
Following the fourth lawsuit against him, Combs took to Instagram to vehemently deny any wrongdoing, pledging to fight for his name, family, and the truth.
