'Man of Steel 2' Lex Luthor Casting Rumors: Bryan Cranston Of 'Breaking Bad' to Play Superman Villain? [VIDEO & NEWS]
With Man of Steel 2 casting rumors circulating on a daily basis, one leading man of a popular television series could be up for the role of the villain Lex Luthor.
Bryan Cranston, famous for such roles as Walter White in Breaking Bad and Hal in Malcolm in the Middle, might be cast as Lex Luthor, according to a tweet from a reliable source.
Latino Review writer El Mayimbe, who broke the news that Thanos would be featured at the end of The Avengers, tweeted a blind item that heavily indicated Cranston is a leading contender for Lex Luthor.
"FANBOY BLIND ITEM," Mayimbe tweeted. "Which superhot actor finishing final season of hit TV show who also was in 2 films for WB is up for juicy badguy part?"
The final season of Breaking Bad premieres Sunday, Aug. 11, which Cranston recently wrapped production on. He also had a role in the 2012 Warner Bros. film Argo and will be one of the stars of the upcoming Warner Bros. film Godzilla.
Man of Steel 2 Casting Rumors: Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling Leading Contenders to Play Batman?
As for previously rumored frontrunner to play Lex Luthor, Mark Strong, the actor suggested that there might be some truth to the rumors.
"All I can say is - watch this space," Strong told DigitalSpy in a Thursday report when asked if he was playing the villain.
It is unclear as to which space he was referring to, but his lack of a definitive answer suggests that producers could be in the midst of casting him.
Man of Steel 2, which will include Batman in addition to Superman (Henry Cavill), will be released in theaters in 2015. Production is set to begin in early 2014 in Canada.
