Vin Diesel Net Worth: Actor Was Paid $47 Million For 'Fast & Furious 7'
Vin Diesel has amassed a staggering fortune throughout his Hollywood career.
As of 2023, Celebrity Net Worth (CNW) estimated Diesel's net worth to be a whopping $225 million, thanks to his roles in "The Chronicles of Riddick," "XXX," and the immensely profitable "Fast and Furious" series. His movies have collectively grossed over $7 billion at the global box office.
Born Mark Sinclair, the 56-year-old actor who made headlines this week over a sexual battery lawsuit filed against him by a former employee, rose to international fame as Dominic Toretto in the high-octane franchise "Fast and Furious," where he commands a substantial paycheck as a star and producer.
One of Diesel's highest "Fast and Furious" salaries came from 2015's "Furious 7," which reportedly earned him a staggering $47 million.
Over the years, Diesel's earnings have consistently placed him among the highest-paid actors in Hollywood.
In 2016, he raked in $35 million, securing the seventh position on the list of the highest-paid actors of the year, according to CNW. The following year, Diesel became the third highest-paid actor after his earnings reportedly soared to $54.3 million.
In 2020, he earned a spot among the top 40 highest-paid celebrities in the world, according to Forbes, with an income of $54 million. A significant portion of this sum came from an upfront base salary for his role in "F9."
While Diesel's fortune is undeniably linked to the success of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, other roles have earned him massive paychecks as well, Diesel reportedly earned $11.5 million for "The Chronicles of Riddick," $10 million for "XXX," and $2.5 million for "A Man Apart."
Forbes recognized Diesel as the top-grossing actor of 2017, attributing his success to the colossal box office performance of "Fate of the Furious," which crossed the $1.2 billion mark globally. His film "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage" also contributed to the figure.
Diesel's acting career began with his role in 1990's "Awakenings," followed by his official feature film debut in 1997's "Strays." He played a minor role in Steven Spielberg's 1998 film, "Saving Private Ryan."
He gained widespread acclaim for his breakout role as Riddick in 2000's "Pitch Black" and continued to soar with iconic characters like Dominic Toretto and Xander Cage. Diesel also voiced Groot in "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014), "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" (2017), "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018), and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019).
Diesel's financial success is not confined to the silver screen; he has diversified his income streams.
Diesel ventured into music in 2020 with the release of the song "Feel Like I Do," produced by Kygo. He also founded his production company, One Race Films, a record label called Racetrack Records, and a video game development studio named Tigon Studios.
On Thursday, Diesel's former assistant, Asta Jonasson, filed a lawsuit against him alleging he sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in 2010.
In the lawsuit, she alleged that she was fired by the actor's sister, Samantha Vincent, the president of Diesel's company One Race at the time, shortly after the alleged incident.
Jonasson is suing Diesel, his production company, and Vincent for alleged sexual battery, creating a hostile work environment, negligent supervision, and wrongful termination, among other claims.
Diesel, through his lawyer, has since vehemently denied the allegations.
"Let me be very clear: Vin Diesel categorically denies this claim in its entirety," Diesel's attorney Bryan Freedman said in a statement to Page Six. "This is the first he has ever heard about this more than 13-year-old claim made by a purportedly 9-day employee. There is clear evidence which completely refutes these outlandish allegations."
