TikTok just released its review of the most memorable trends, creators, songs and moments on the social media platform in 2023.

According to TikTok's head of operations, Adam Presser, the "Year on TikTok 2023" review is a way for them "to honor some of the standout moments" that happened on the platform throughout the year and thank the users and creators for "another year of bringing joy" to the community.

In terms of the songs that gained the most popularity on TikTok this year, ten made it to the list reigned by a K-Pop girl group song.

1. "Cupid" Twin Ver by FIFTY FIFTY

The sped-up version of K-Pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY's hit song was recognized as "the biggest song on TikTok in 2023" after over 20 million videos featured the track.

The English version of "Cupid" was well-loved by music fans across the globe because of its "well-written lyrics," "pop feel" and "Aran and Sio's soothing voices," among many others.

2. "If We Ever Broke Up" by Mae Stephens

Mae Stephens' song "If We Ever Broke Up" is TikTok's second-most popular song in 2023 after becoming the breakup anthem on the platform.

It was featured in over 15 million TikTok videos, including the dance challenge joined in by K-Pop idols from IVE, Enhypen and ITZY, to name a few.

3. "Collide" by Justine Skye

"Collide" is a single released by American hip-hop and R&B singer Justine Skye in August 2014. In 2023, a more sped-up version of the almost 10-year-old song was made and used in over 13 million TikTok videos.

4. "What It Is" by Doechii

Twenty-five-year-old American rapper-singer Doechii's solo version of her song "What It Is" broke into the mainstream and earned the artist's first Billboard Hot 100 chart after its popularity on TikTok soared and became the platform's fourth most popular song worldwide. 

5. "Look For A Long Time" by FLI:P

Three-member co-ed Thai-Pop or T-Pop group FLI:P experienced a breakthrough with its song "มองนานๆ," which roughly translates to "Look For A Long Time."

FLI:P's catchy, feel-good song is TikTok's fifth most popular song worldwide in 2023 after being featured in millions of cute videos and dance challenges.

6. "La Bebe (Remix)" by Yng Lvcas & Peso Pluma

Per TikTok, the platform helped Mexican singer Peso Pluma achieve his worldwide breakthrough as an artist with his songs' popularity on TikTok.

One of which was his smash hit collaboration with another Mexican artist, Yng Lvcas, titled "La Bebe (Remix)." The remix was featured in millions of videos on the platform.

7. "LALA" by Myke Towers

Thanks to "LALA's" popularity on TikTok, Puerto Rican rapper-singer Myke Towers made it to Billboard Hot 100's top 50 songs.

His song "LALA" became popular worldwide after different TikTok creators and personalities joined in on the "LALA" dance trend.

8. "Girls Like Me Don't Cry" by Thuy

While Vietnamese-American singer-songwriter Thuy's song "Girls Like Me Don't Cry" was originally about a tough time in her life when all she wanted to do was let it out, the track's sped-up version became the popular background music for DIY videos and makeup tutorials on TikTok in 20223.  

9. "TQG" by KAROL G & Shakira

According to TikTok, it's no wonder why "TQG" became an instant hit on the platform because it features two of TikTok's top 10 biggest global artists: KAROL G and Shakira.

"TQG," the first collaboration of the two music icons, is a "heated breakup bop about leaving corny exes," per Billboard.

10. "Makeba" by Jain

TikTok breathed new life into French singer-songwriter Jain's 2016 song "Makeba" and helped it rise to new heights and even secure the spot as TikTok's 10th most popular song worldwide in 2023.
