Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo's separation did not come as a shock to some fans of "The Bachelorette."

The "Bachelorette" winner, Abasolo, filed for divorce from Lindsay four years after they tied the knot. In the court documents obtained by E! News, he cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.

The news of their separation immediately received mixed responses from netizens. But many were not shocked by the news at all.

"Not surprised!" one commented on X, formerly Twitter. Another added, "Anyone surprised?"

"Considering they live completely separate lives, this isn't really surprising," someone else wrote.

Although many didn't find the breakup surprising, several expressed their heartbreak for the couple, especially those who were rooting for them.

"I like them both, but they put more time into their careers! Relationships take work/time too," one opined. Another fan wrote, "This is sad to hear. I wish both happiness."

"Oh no, my ship," a different user commented with a face holding back tears emoji and a loudly crying face emoji.

Abasolo broke his silence about their divorce in a post on Instagram. He confirmed their separation and explained why he decided to share it even though he rarely put his personal affairs on social media.

"Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start a new. My parents have been married forever, and I am a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you must let go," the chiropractor wrote.

"I wanted you to hear it from the source before the blogs start making up their own reality. Please respect the spaces of our family and friends as we figure out our next steps," he concluded his post.

Lindsay has yet to address her split from Abasolo in public. However, the former "Bachelorette" star shared footage of herself in the gym on New Year's Day in an Instagram Story and wrote, "Sweating out everything from 2023."

Lindsay and Abasolo met on ABC's "The Bachelorette" Season 13. Lindsay picked Abasolo during her season. He proposed to her in the finale and got married in Cancun, Mexico, on Aug. 24, 2019. The exes kept their relationship largely private.
