WATCH: Chinese Boy Group BlackACE Performs SB19's 'Gento' On New Year's Eve Celebration
The popularity of Filipino boy group SB19's song "Gento" from its "Pagtatag!" EP is still soaring, even in countries outside the Philippines.
According to an SB19 fan account, Chinese group BlackACE danced to the P-Pop group's hit song "Gento" during the New Year's Eve celebration in Beijing, China.
Fan cam videos of members Wang Di and Tian Shuchen during their "Gento" performance were shared on social media.
To note, BlackACE member Tian Shuchen and Chinese singer-actor Dai Jing Yao also performed SB19's "Gento" at a Christmas Eve event in Beijing, China, per another fan account @Ashinumura.
Their Christmas Eve performance was originally posted on Weibo, one of the biggest social media platforms in China.
BlackACE is an eight-member boy group that debuted under Cool Entertainment in May 2019 with its self-titled EP. However, the group eventually disbanded in March 2021 after being active for two years, per C-Pop Wiki.
Former members of the group include AJ Lai, Chen Shun, Long Honghao, Shang Zhenbo, Tian Shuchen, Wang Di, Yang Tong and Zhao Pinlin.
In other news, Chinese boy group 6IN1 from TF Entertainment posted on Weibo its version of SB19's hit song "Gento" in December 2023.
Aside from translating the song's lyrics into Chinese and English, the members also gave the song a new spin and interpretation with a new arrangement.
Compared to the original version by SB19's leader and 1Z Entertainment CEO Pablo with his co-producers Joshua Daniel Nase and Simon Servida, 6IN1's version featured a hypnotic vibe similar to the sounds of a snake charmer's flute.
After releasing "Gento" in May 2023, SB19 made waves and gained massive popularity in different countries outside the Philippines, including China, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea, among many others.
Different celebrities and personalities hopped on the "Gento" dance craze on TikTok, leading to SB19's massive popularity abroad.
"Gento" also charted on different streaming platforms like Spotify, China's Shazam and LINE Music in Japan, among many others.
SB19 is a five-member Filipino boy group consisting of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin. The quintet debuted in October 2018 under ShowBT Philippines.
The P-Pop group celebrated its fifth anniversary in October 2023. SB19 is currently under 1Z Entertainment, a company built and managed by the SB19 members.
Aside from "Gento," the group is also known for its hit songs "MAPA," "I Want You," "Crimzone," "WYAT" and "Go Up," among many others.
