Meghan Markle Already Dropped By WME Agency? Here's Why Netizens Think So
Meghan Markle signed with William Morris Endeavor (WME) last year, but there are now speculations that the talent agency has already silently dropped her.
In April 2023, WME announced that it would represent Markle. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been plagued by negative headlines last year, prompting rumors that the agency would drop her, and some got convinced that it did because her name reportedly no longer appears on WME's website, though many other celebrities are listed there, including Ben Affleck, Emma Stone and Matt LeBlanc, Express reported.
Several netizens also turned to social media to find a concrete answer about Markle's status with WME.
"Has WME really dropped Meghan Markle? She is nowhere to be found on their website? And there are several references to them dropping her on Quora and Reddit... if WME quietly dropped her, how would we know?" one netizen asked on X, formerly Twitter.
"They certainly haven't made any money from representing her... is she paying them? I truly believe they've quietly dropped her, and an announcement is forthcoming.... Her PR will spin it that she decided she doesn't need them... but we'll know the truth! Maybe that's why she's been so quiet," continued the netizen.
"I hope they have dropped her [as] she needs a reality check," one commented. Another added, "Around 6 months ago, I posted that within 6 months, I believed WME would quietly drop MM - I wonder if this has actually happened?"
Meanwhile, one pointed out that Markle never really appeared on the site. A different user said that Markle still appears on the Harry Walker website, which is WME's speakers bureau.
"They only announced her on Twitter / X. I never saw her on their actual site. Did anyone really see her on their website?" the user said.
"She's still listed on HWA, which is the speakers bureau for WME," another wrote.
Cameron Walker, a royal correspondent for GB News, clarified that Markle is still with the agency despite her disastrous year. He pointed out that the booking page to hire Markle as a "Speaker" is still active on The Harry Walker Agency website, a division of WME. He added that listing the former actress as a "Speaker" was only part of her deal with the powerhouse agency.
