Ivanka Trump Is The Only Trump Kid Who Posted Tribute For Melania's Mom
Ivanka Trump is the sole Trump child to publicly express condolences following the passing of Melania Trump's mother, Amalija Knavs.
In a heartfelt message shared on X, formerly Twitter, Ivanka conveyed her deep sorrow over the loss and praised Knavs for being a "remarkable" person.
"I am deeply saddened by the passing of Melania's beloved mother, Amalija Knavs, a remarkable woman who brought immense joy and love into the lives of all around her. Her spirit, strength and compassion will be profoundly missed but lives [sic] on in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched so dearly," Ivanka wrote.
No other child of former President Donald Trump has paid tribute to Knavs on social media as of Wednesday.
Donald Trump Jr. has been active on X and Instagram since Melania announced the passing of her mother Tuesday but made no mention of the former first lady or Knavs. His last post on X, which was made Wednesday night, was about his father's 2024 presidential campaign.
Eric Trump has not posted on his social media pages since the weekend, when he shared photos from an Iowa campaign event.
Tiffany Trump's last Instagram post was on Jan. 3, showing photos of her posing in a white gown.
Knavs passed away at the age of 78 Tuesday night while hospitalized for an undisclosed illness.
Melania shared the sad news in a statement on X and celebrated her mother's strength, grace and warmth. She did not disclose a cause of death.
"We will miss her beyond measure and continue to honor and love her legacy," she wrote.
Her husband also mourned Knavs' death on Truth Social, expressing deep sadness and describing her as an "incredible woman."
The announcement comes after Melania's absence from the Trump family's Christmas celebration and her husband's New Year's Eve party.
In video footage from the gathering, Donald told the crowd that his wife could not make it because she was attending to her ailing mother at the hospital.
"[Amalija has] been very ill, so I just want to say 'hello' to the first lady - we just spoke, down in Miami, great hospital - and hopefully they'll be ok. But it's a tough one, it's a very tough one," he said at the time.
Melania maintained a close relationship with her parents, Amalija and Viktor Knavs, both of whom had been living at Donald's Florida estate Mar-a-Lago in recent years.
Barron, Melania and Donald's son, had developed a particularly close bond with his grandmother, an unnamed source close to the family told People.
Melania's parents, who hail from present-day Slovenia, became U.S. citizens in 2018.
According to the Associated Press, Amalija previously worked as a textile worker, while Viktor was a former car dealer.
