Prince Harry, Meghan Markle ‘Contacted’ Kate Middleton, Sent Well Wishes Amid Health Issues: Report
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly reached out to offer their support to King Charles III and Kate Middleton amid their recent health concerns.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex conveyed their well wishes ahead of Charles' upcoming prostate operation and as the Princess of Wales continues to recover in the hospital following major abdominal surgery.
"The King and the Princess of Wales have received support from Prince Harry and Meghan regarding their health," an unnamed source told the U.K.'s The Mirror.
"The Duke and Duchess contacted both parties in different ways to pass on their concern and best wishes," the insider added.
Prince Harry and Markle's reported move received approval from Queen Elizabeth II's former press secretary, Dickie Arbiter.
"It's good they've recognized his sister-in-law has gone in for what is obviously serious surgery and his father is going in to have surgery at 75. It's the right thing to do to acknowledge it," the royal commentator was quoted as saying by the outlet.
However, Arbiter said he doubted it would fix the Sussexes' strained relationship with the royal family.
"Don't hold your breath," the former royal staffer said of the possibility of a complete reconciliation.
The olive branch comes after a series of fresh controversies and drama surrounding the royal family.
Last month, King Charles and Middleton were named in the Dutch edition of the biography "Endgame" as the alleged royals who made comments about the skin color of Harry and Meghan's eldest child, Archie. Author Omid Scobie later claimed it was an error involving draft text.
Another recently released royal book, "Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story," claimed the Sussexes' decision to call their daughter Lilibet "infuriated" the late Queen Elizabeth II.
An unnamed insider, however, told Us Weekly that Prince Harry and Markle "100[%] got permission from the queen to use the name Lilibet," which was the late queen's childhood nickname.
On Wednesday, Kensington Palace announced via social media that the Princess of Wales underwent planned abdominal surgery at The London Clinic.
Middleton's "successful" surgery is expected to keep her in the hospital for 10 to 14 days, with a further recovery period at home.
Prince William has reportedly taken time off from royal duties to be with his wife and take care of their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
On Thursday, the heir apparent to the British throne was spotted visiting Middleton at her private ward, according to The Mirror.
Less than two hours after Kensington Palace's announcement, Buckingham Palace released a statement saying King Charles will undergo a "corrective procedure" for an enlarged prostate.
