Netizens Debate Whether Prince Harry Is Overdressed At Living Legends Of Aviation Awards
Prince Harry's appearance at the Living Legends of Aviation Awards sparked discussions among netizens.
The Duke of Sussex arrived in Beverly Hills to accept his most recent award sans his wife, Meghan Markle. He rocked a black velvet tuxedo with a white shirt under it and a black bow tie. A snap of Prince Harry with John Travolta, Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos made the rounds online, but many felt that he was overdressed compared to his companions, except for Sanchez.
"Looks like Haz was a little overdressed for the occasion. Travolta had a loosened tie with a sportcoat, and Bezos had an open-collar shirt... He thought it was a REAL awards ceremony!!! Like the Oscars or Emmys," one wrote.
"Prince Harry appears rather bizarrely overdressed compared to the other men, who are quite casual. Lauren, it could be argued, is also overdressed. It seems like this is an event for less important people to feel important and special," another added.
"He looks like a doofus in this picture. He doesn't look as good as HRH William, The Prince of Wales, did in his velvet tuxedo. You are trying too hard, Harry, and it's not working," a third person opined.
Meanwhile, some argued that Prince Harry dressed appropriately for the occasion and wasn't overdressed. Instead, he just dressed up because he was among the award recipients.
"Bizarrely overdressed? That's how new inductees dress dümb**s. Next time, don't embarrass yourself trying to hate on Harry and do your research. Now you look like an idiot," one netizen commented.
"LOL, that is just how Hollywood does their event; Harold still dresses for a Royal Event. [It] Doesn't make him overdressed, because I can't and won't say Hollywood 'dresscode' is the standard. THEIRS are the one that is BIZARRE! #JustSaying And P.S: No, I don't like Harold!" another added.
"It was a black tie event. This was taken at the end of the event. Bezos has taken his bow tie off, and John Travolta looks like a tramp. He's underdressed," a third person wrote.
"What, in comparison to the other two on the stage? Take a look around the room, and you'll see Harry is very appropriately dressed," another suggested.
In Prince Harry's acceptance speech, he joked about John Travolta, who danced with his late mom, Princess Diana, at the White House in 1985. However, he made no mention of his father, King Charles, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, who are battling health issues. Prince Harry's biographer, Angela Levin, claimed it was a snub.
"It was a deliberate snub -- to prove that he's independent and doing very well," Levin claimed.
"He was cracking jokes the whole time, and it seemed phony. It felt like it was 'look at me' and 'it doesn't affect me.' He could have been more serious and said he's thinking of them."
