5 Celebrities Who Spoke Against Ozempic For Weight Loss
Celebrities have mixed opinions about the use of Ozempic for weight loss.
Several personalities, like Dr. Terry Dubrow, advocated for the use of Ozempic to shed extra pounds amid the global fight against obesity. However, many also expressed their disapproval of using the medication, intended for adults with type 2 diabetes. Here are some celebrities who aren't on board with using Ozempic for weight loss.
Danielle Cabral
The "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star slammed the trend of using Ozempic for weight loss. She told Page Six that she had a friend who needed the medication for her health condition and couldn't access it due to some using it for weight loss.
"I was with somebody today, a very dear friend of mine, who actually needs [Ozempic] for medical reasons, and cannot get it because of this stupid, bulls**t behavior," she said on "Virtual Reali-Tea" live taping at Chelsea Table & Stage in New York City.
"RHONJ" newcomer Jennifer Fessier, a proud user of Ozempic for weight loss, tried to interrupt Cabral. However, the latter told her, "Run on a f*****g treadmill."
Anthony Anderson
Anthony Anderson, an American actor and comedian diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, was not happy about people using the drug to lose weight. The Golden Globe nominee, 53, hoped that Ozempic's weight loss trend would stop because it reportedly affected diabetics' supply of medication.
"I will say this, it's creating a shortage for those of us who need the medicine that we need and not for weight loss issues, but for our health," Anderson told People.
Tamra Judge
"The Real Housewives of Orange County" star was accused of using Ozempic after she shared a snap of her in the hospital due to an intestinal obstruction. She denied the allegation, even calling it "disgusting."
"These comments that I'm on Ozempic are disgusting," Tamra wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "I've suffered from intestinal problems for years. I've had multiple surgeries in the past 12 years."
The Bravo celebrity also reminded her fans and critics how the procedures affected her appearance and doubled down on her stand against Ozempic for weight loss.
"Remember when you all made fun of me for not having a belly button?" Tamra continued. "That was due to emergency life-saving surgery. Part of my intestines were being strangled. My grandmother died of intestinal problems. I've never been on Ozempic and personally wouldn't use it for weight loss!"
Chelsea Handler
Chelsea Handler shared her Ozempic experience when she appeared on "Call Her Daddy." According to her, her anti-aging doctor handed it out to her when she came back from a vacation, and she wasn't aware it was Ozempic. She only realized what it was when a friend told her about it.
When she learned that she was taking something medically unnecessary, Handler stopped using it and gave the remaining doses to her friends.
"I'm not on it anymore. That's too irresponsible," Handler told host Alexandra Cooper. "I'm an irresponsible drug user, but I'm not gonna take a diabetic drug. I tried it, and I'm not gonna do that. That's not for me. That's not right for me."
Raven-Symoné
Raven-Symoné also disapproved of the use of the type 2 diabetes medication for weight loss. She admitted that she had pre-diabetes and diabetes in her family, so she was very careful when it came to the food she would consume because she was more susceptible to getting it.
"So, I think it's very important we understand certain medications are made for certain people and to not take that away just for glamazon purposes," she told E! News.
