Conor McGregor Makes Acting Debut In Jake Gyllenhaal's Movie: Watch Trailer Here
Irish professional mixed martial artist and professional boxer Conor McGregor will make his acting debut in the remake of the 1989 action classic "Road House."
On Thursday, Prime Video released the official trailer of "Road House" featuring Jake Gyllenhaal as former UFC fighter Elwood Dalton, who takes on a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse.
The athlete-turned-first-time-actor appears halfway through the trailer with other outlaws and bikers, bringing chaos to a bar Gyllenhaal's character is in. The two end up fighting each other.
McGregor posted about his upcoming action film debut on Instagram a day before the release of the film's trailer.
"Excited for you all to see it! [It's] director @dougliman's 'greatest movie yet!' [I'm] honored to debut alongside such a stellar cast and crew," he wrote.
McGregor also proudly shared some snaps he took with Gyllenhaal on the set of their film on X, prompting excited reactions from his fans.
"Conor is going to make this interesting," one X user tweeted.
"Bro, you did FANTASTIC in this scene! Can't wait for the full movie. This will be your biggest year yet," commented another.
"Looks great! I'm a fan of the original and wouldn't even think of seeing a remake, but since you're in it and I just saw the trailer, we're going to the movies!" someone else said.
"Give this man the Oscar," quipped a fourth fan.
"This looks like the best bad movie of all time. I'll be watching," another wrote.
Prime Video described the new "Road House" film as an "adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic."
The remake is helmed by "Edge of Tomorrow" director Doug Liman and written by scriptwriters Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry, per Variety.
The original producer of the 1989 film, Joel Silver, is also back to producing for Silver Pictures, along with JJ Hook, Alison Winter and Aaron Auch as the executive producers.
Meanwhile, completing the 2024 "Road House" cast are Jessica Williams, Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.
"Road House" is slated for a global release on March 21 on Amazon's video streaming and rental service.
The original "Road House" was helmed by director Rowdy Herrington and penned by David Lee Henry and Hilary Henkin. The cast included Patrick Swayze, Ben Gazzara, Kelly Lynch and Sam Elliott.
