Snoop Dogg And Skechers Drop New Basketball Sneaker Collab
Snoop Dogg dropped a new sneaker collaboration this week with Skechers, Snoop Dogg: SKX Resagrip Boss Treatment.
Available now for $160, the shoes include quality elements to increase comfort and performance while maintaining the "Gin and Juice" rapper's style.
NBA players are already endorsing Snoop's collab, with players such as the New York Knicks' Julius Randle and the Los Angeles Clippers' Terrance Mann already embracing the comfort of the sneakers.
The rapper, born Calvin C. Broadus Jr., proudly cites inclusivity as a driving force in his decision to collab with Skechers.
"It's a shoe for walks of all life," he said in an interview with Hypebeast. "There are shoes for people who have jobs where they need steel toes, athletes, entertainers — we're trying to make a shoe for everybody." The sneakers, which comes in two colorways; orange and white, both with Snoop's "S" logo, are available in size 4.5 - 14.
Regarding the beginning stages of the deal, he revealed he has frequent collaborator Martha Stewart to thank. The two have been friends since 2008 and would later begin to host the VH1 cooking series 'Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party' in 2016.
"She said, 'Snoop, you should get with Skechers because they don't have anyone like you. They'll give you as many shoes as you want. You should meet the owner [Robert Greenberg]. He used to run LA Gear,' " the 52-year-old said during an interview on 'All the Smoke.'
According to Snoop, Skechers brought him to their office and proceeded to show him 30 different shoe mock-ups with his name on them.
"This is what we want to do for you," they said. "What do you think?"
"I think where's the paper?" he replied. "I need to sign!"
