Prince William Steps Back From Royal Duties To Care For Wife Kate Middleton: Report
Kate Middleton has just returned home after her abdominal surgery, and her husband, Prince William, wants to make sure she's properly taken care of, according to sources.
The Princess of Wales was discharged from the hospital in London after spending weeks there to recover from the procedure. She is currently in their home in Windsor, England, "to continue her recovery from surgery."
The heir to the throne "has temporarily stepped back from his royal duties to care for his wife, and it's not expected that he will return to engagements immediately," an unnamed insider told Entertainment Tonight.
Middleton and their three kids -- Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 -- are reportedly Prince William's "first priority and he won't return to public engagements until Princess Kate is settled."
Grant Harrold, a former royal butler, saw the Duke of Cambridge stepping up even more now that his wife was back home following her surgery. The future king is expected to resume his official duties once the princess settles in back at home, and Harrold believes he would be waiting on his wife "hand and foot."
"He's a very caring, very loving kind of character, and I noticed that a lot when I spent time with them both back in the day," Harrold told The Post. "I've no doubt that wouldn't have changed, William will make sure Kate is cared for and that she has a quick recovery."
"The sooner her recovery, I'm sure the sooner the pair will get back to carrying out their royal duties together, which is something that I think they enjoy," he continued, noting that the royal couple "enjoy their working life together."
Royal sources said Middleton's return to official duties "will depend on medical advice closer to the time." The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly keen on returning to their normal setup since they don't have a large household at their Windsor residence.
"There won't be a huge team there on hand. It'll be her husband who'll mainly be doing that, helping her to get back onto her feet," unnamed sources told the outlet.
King Charles has also returned home after a scheduled treatment for his enlarged prostate, Buckingham Palace announced in a statement Monday. However, the monarch won't be back to resume his official duties soon as he had "rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation."
