Grammys 2024 Surprise Performers: Beyoncé, Taylor Swift And Tracy Chapman Rumored To Perform
The 2024 Grammy Awards are rumored to feature some surprise performances, including from Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.
Unnamed sources told Variety that Tracy Chapman will perform in public for the first time in years at the 2024 Grammys Sunday.
According to the insider, she will join Luke Combs for a duet of "Fast Car."
Combs, whose cover of Chapman's Grammy-winning song became a hit last year, was previously announced as one of the 2024 ceremony's performers.
If Chapman does make a surprise appearance onstage, this would mark the first time she is performing for the camera since her last tour in 2009.
Rumors have also been circulating on social media that Beyoncé and Swift may surprise fans with performances at Sunday's ceremony.
Earlier this week, Grammys executive producer Raj Kapoor told Rolling Stone there were "conversations" about Beyoncé appearing in a Tina Turner tribute in the In Memoriam segment.
"We've definitely had conversations, and we know how much Tina and Beyoncé loved each other," Kapoor told the publication. "The Tina Turner tribute will be amazing. We are really excited. It may be a little unexpected, but it's going to be absolutely amazing."
When it comes to the possibility of Swift performing, the executive producer told Rolling Stone, "We've had a lot of last-minute things come in on the show."
"Sometimes they've happened days before, and yeah, we're always open to the idea," he said.
However, a representative for Beyoncé told The Hollywood Reporter that she will not perform at the 2024 Grammys.
Rolling Stone also reported that Swift will "definitely not be performing" at Sunday's ceremony because she will be heading to Japan right after the show.
The "Cruel Summer" hitmaker is set to kick off the Asian leg of her "Eras Tour" with four concerts in Tokyo starting Wednesday.
Just hours before the ceremony, Swift sparked rumors that she has some good news coming for fans when she changed her social media profile photos to black-and-white versions.
The move immediately had Swifties speculating that "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" may be coming soon.
Rumors that Swift may soon announce the release date of the highly anticipated re-recording of her sixth studio album began swirling last month after her friends and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, changed their profile pictures.
The Grammys previously announced that its 2024 performer lineup includes Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo.
They are joined by Burna Boy, Luke Combs, and Travis Scott.
Former "The Daily Show" host Trevor Noah is set to return as host, marking his fourth consecutive year hosting the award show.
The 66th Grammy Awards will broadcast live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles Sunday at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PT on CBS. The show will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
