5 Biggest Moments Of Grammys 2024: Taylor Swift Making History To Miley Cyrus' Underwear Speech
The 2024 Grammy Awards have concluded but it wasn't without some of the biggest moments in music history.
From female artists breaking records to legendary icons gracing the stage, to memorable speeches -- we list down the best and brightest moments of the Grammys 2024.
1. Taylor Swift makes history with Album of the Year
Can Taylor Swift's February get any better?
On Sunday, Swift broke the record for the most Album of the Year wins at the Grammys by scoring her fourth gilded gramophone with "Midnights." Swift is now the first and only artist to have ever won the award four times. That's something!
She won two trophies that night, scoring her 13th Grammy by winning Best Pop Vocal Album for the same record, before securing her 14th with the night's biggest win.
The "Cruel Summer" singer also announced a new album -- "The Tortured Poets Department" -- dropping on April 19.
Swift is set to kick off the 2024 leg of her "Eras Tour" in Tokyo, Japan, on February 7, before she's expected to jet back to Las Vegas to watch boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs aim for a Super Bowl LVIII win.
2. Billy Joel returns to the Grammy stage with a new song
Billy Joel marked two new milestones at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday. After 22 years, the music icon returned to the Grammy stage to perform his newest song, "Turn the Lights Back On," his first new song since 2007's "All My Life."
Other musical icons who also performed on stage were Jonie Mitchell and Tracy Chapman.
3. Miley Cyrus talks about her underwear during acceptance speech
Miley Cyrus was being her trademark self while accepting her Record of the Year award for "Flowers." The songstress, who also performed that night, thanked her fans, her sister and her mom (but not her dad) while receiving her award.
"Anyone else?" Cyrus asked her team.
"I don't think I forgot anyone. But I might have forgotten underwear," she said to a laughing crowd. "Bye!"
Miley also won Best Pop Solo Performance for "Flowers."
4. Celine Dion makes a surprise appearance as a presenter
Celine Dion had the whole crowd on their feet after the artist made a surprise appearance to present the final award of the night, Album of the Year.
Dion has rarely been seen in public after revealing in December 2022 that she was diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome -- a progressive neurological disorder.
"Thank you, all! I love you right back," Dion told the crowd who welcomed her with a standing ovation.
"When I say I'm happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart."
Dion presented the award to Swift.
5. Paramore makes rock history with "This Is Why" win
Rock band Paramore scored its second and third Grammy on Sunday, bagging the Best Rock Album win for 2023's "This Is Why" and Best Alternative Music Performance for the track of the same title.
The win makes the group the only female-fronted band to win the Best Rock Album at the Grammys. Vocalist Hayley Williams is also the first woman to win Best Rock Album in 25 years, since Sheryl Crow won for "The Globe Sessions" in 1999, Loudwire reported.
Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York bested the Foo Fighters, Metallica, Greta Van Fleet and Queens of the Stone Age for the award.
