Prince Harry Seeing King Charles After Cancer Diagnosis Worries Royal Supporters: 'It Must Be Serious'
Prince Harry is reportedly seeing his father, King Charles III, very soon.
Buckingham Palace announced that the British monarch was diagnosed with some form of cancer. Following the announcement, multiple outlets reported that the Duke of Sussex is flying to the United Kingdom to be with his father.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's office confirmed to Page Six that Prince Harry, 39, would head to London on Monday after speaking with his father about his health condition. CBS News also reported that Prince William's brother would be flying to Britain in the coming days.
The news about Prince Harry flying to London to see his father amid his cancer diagnosis sparked health concerns among the royal supporters. They speculated that King Charles' condition must be serious for his youngest son to rush to the United Kingdom to see him.
"I'm not an ardent monarchist but I am sad to hear King Charles diagnosed with prostate cancer. The Palace usually covers up royal illnesses so it must be serious. I hope it draws attention to the condition for men who otherwise might not get checked," one wrote. Another added, "It must be serious if Harry is heading off to London."
"If Harry is flying to be with his father and King Charles will not be seen in public, it must be very serious? So sorry the entire Royal Family!" a third person commented.
Buckingham Palace released a statement about the King's health on its website and social media. In a post on X, the Palace said that after King Charles' recent hospital procedure to address his benign prostate enlargement, "subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer."
"The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible," the statement added.
"His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
An unnamed source told People that Prince William is in regular contact with his father and his younger sibling is expected to travel to their home country. The King and his youngest son reportedly have a rocky relationship following the latter's decision to step back from his royal duties and release his memoir, "Spare."
In his tome, Prince Harry revealed intimate details about their family. He detailed his physical brawl with Prince William over Markle and painted the monarch as a cold father.
In a previous edition of the Palace Confidential Newsletter, Richard Eden, the Daily Mail Diary Editor, said King Charles was "determined to be a forgiving monarch" and could welcome back Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just like Sarah Ferguson, who was spotted with the royal family during the Christmas Walk in December.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry was blasted by his own royal biographer, Angela Levin, after he allegedly snubbed his father and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, in his Living Legend of Aviation acceptance speech. At the time, the Palace was hit by a double health scare involving the King and Princess of Wales, and Prince Harry didn't acknowledge the royal issue in his joke-filled speech.
"He just needed to say one sentence. I actually think it's horrible and disrespectful that he didn't," Levin said. "It was a deliberate snub -- to prove that he's independent and doing very well."
