Prince William Breaks Silence On King Charles' Cancer, Kate Middleton's Surgery
Prince William finally addressed the double health scare in the Palace.
In Prince William's speech, he acknowledged the heartfelt words and comfort his family received after his wife's abdominal surgery and dad's diagnosis. The future king expressed how grateful he was and how much the support meant to them.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all," the heir said, per the Daily Mail.
"It's fair to say the past few weeks have had a rather 'medical' focus. So I thought I'd come to an air ambulance function to get away from it all!" the former pilot for East Anglia Air Ambulance jokingly added.
The Prince of Wales also spoke with reporters who gathered outside the venue.
"We really appreciate everyone's kind messages. Thank you," he told them.
Prince William has no further duties scheduled this week, and he will be with his family next week during their half-term holiday.
"The Prince has always made clear that his priority is to support his wife and family for the time being -- and he did not put a timescale on that," an unnamed source told the outlet. "He will make a return to duties on Wednesday, but you should not expect to see him again for a bit after that."
Prince Harry rushed to see King Charles after learning about the latter's cancer diagnosis. The father and son reportedly only met for 45 minutes. The Duke of Sussex immediately returned to California after their brief meeting and didn't see his big brother.
There are mixed opinions about Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship. Some hoped they could reconcile amid their father's condition. However, others claimed that a reconciliation would be unlikely.
"I think William would rather shoot himself than see his brother right now," Piers Morgan said in response to the issue. "I think this is very deep. This is a real sibling war."
