Princess Anne Wears Late Queen Elizabeth's Purple Jacket From 2006 [Photo]
Princess Anne looked stunning in her late mother Queen Elizabeth's outfit when she stepped out for a recent engagement.
The Princess Royal has remained committed to her duties in the monarchy despite the double health scare that hit the Palace. King Charles was recently diagnosed with cancer, while Kate Middleton took a break from her public engagements after undergoing abdominal surgery last month.
Princess Anne has remained consistent throughout it all. On Tuesday, she visited G.H.Hurt & Son as the president of the U.K. Fashion and Textile Association. She arrived wearing Queen Elizabeth's purple jacket that the late monarch wore in Scotland in 2006, Town & Country reported. Her Majesty paired the jacket with her signature headscarf and trousers, which she rarely wore.
Princess Anne has been known to repeat outfits. However, it was the first time she wore an archival piece from her mother's wardrobe.
On social media, many were touched by Princess Anne's recent fashion choices. Several even shared doing the same after they lost their parents.
"I still wear a jumper that belonged to my dad. It lets me pretend that he's still hugging me," one commented on X, formerly Twitter.
Another added, "That is lovely."
"That's beautiful to see. I have been hoping that the wonderful garments of the Queen would be passed on and enjoyed, no better way than by Princess Anne, very endearing," a third person said.
"Wow, never too old to raid mother's closet," a fourth user opined.
"How appropriate -- a nice gesture from Princess Anne in memory of her mother, given that yesterday was the anniversary of the late QEII's accession to the throne in 1952," a different user noted.
"To have some items of your mother gives you comfort and strength. It is a great jacket," a different user added.
The late monarch was recognized as a "fashion icon." When she passed away in September 2022, the London Fashion Week was adjusted to honor her funeral. Additionally, several brands, including Burberry, Raf Simons and Claudie Pierlot, canceled their spring/summer 23 shows.
Her Majesty had a prolific influence on the fashion industry throughout her seven-decade reign. Chris Jones, co-managing director of royal sockmaker Corgi, which received a Royal Warrant in 1987, praised the late Queen for her knowledge in the industry.
"The Queen always had a good understanding of the importance of textiles and fashion to the British economy," Jones said, Drapers reported.
"When I met her once at Buckingham Palace, she proved to be very knowledgeable and interested in what we do. The whole Royal Family are great ambassadors showcasing British products across the world, with people worldwide aspiring to wear the clothes that our Royal Family are seen wearing. The new King [Charles III] is also hugely knowledgeable on our industry and shows a personal interest in the products his warrant holders make."
