Amanda Bynes Mother Gets Legal Control; Former Actress 'Gravely Disabled' in Psychiatric Care [VIDEO & NEWS]
Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has temporarily been stripped of legal control over her finances and medical care.
The former child star is currently partaking in a 30-day psychiatric treatment program and was not able to go to her court hearing on Friday because of doctor's orders.
Bynes' parents, Rick and Lynn Bynes, filed for temporary conservatorship over their daughter's finances and well being in late July, and their request was officially granted in a Ventura, Calif. court. Judge Glen M. Reiser approved of Bynes' doctor's orders that she had a "lack of capacity to give consent for medical care."
Mary Shea, the Bynes' attorney, told the judge that the actress "opposed and objected [to the conservatorship]...she doesn't feel there's a need."
Regardless of Bynes' protest, the judge appointed conservatorship to Lynn, giving her legal control over her daughter's savings and most of her basic needs.
"I do still want to have a dialogue with [Amanda]," the judge said, considering Bynes was not in attendance at court.
Lynn will serve as a temporary conservator over Amanda's finances until Sept. 30.
Reiser said that he would hold a formal hearing on Sept. 30 to determine if the conservatorship would be permanent.
Enstars previously reported that Bynes was under psychiatric hold and unable to appear at court due to her doctor's diagnosis that she was "gravely disabled" by mental illness. Reiser traveled to Amanda's hospital on Friday to conduct an emergency hearing, which can only be conducted if doctors deem a patient mentally unstable.
