Ashton Kutcher 'Two And A Half Men' Season 11: Talks Angus T. Jones Exit & Amber Tamblyn Addition
Ashton Kutcher discussed the changes to season 11 of Two And A Half Men on Friday.
Kutcher, 35, appeared on Live With Kelly and Michael on Aug. 9 to promote Jobs, the biopic about Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. During the interview, he discussed original cast member Angus T. Jones' departure from the hit CBS comedy.
Kutcher did not address Jones' infamous Youtube rant about the show, but he said the child star would not return because of his wishes to go to school.
"Angus has been on the show his entire childhood, and last year he was like, 'Man, I really want to go to college and just be a normal kid,'" Kutcher told the show's hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan. "So I was like, Angus, please come back. Just do one more year and then go to college. So he came back last year, and this year he decided he really wanted to go to college, so this year he's going to go off to college."
Kutcher was asked if fans of the show can expect Jones to make any surprise guest appearances during the upcoming season of the show.
"Well, he went off to the military last year, so he's off fighting wars on behalf of the United States government," he revealed. "Maybe we can get him to Skype in or something. We'll see."
Kutcher announced that Two And A Half Men will add a new cast member, Amber Tamblyn, in its eleventh season. Tamblyn will appear as a regular character on the show and will play the long-lost daughter to Kutcher's character, Charlie. The Punked creator poked fun at the idea that a woman, not a man, replaced Jones.
"Amber Tamblyn is joining the cast," he said. "Last year I think I was the half man, so I don't know who's going to be the half man this season. ... I don't know what they're going to do with the title; I imagine they're just going to keep it the same."
CBS confirmed to E! News that Tamblyn will join the show for at least five episodes, during season 11. She is known for her roles on House, CBS' Joan of Arcadia and the films Django Unchained and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
CBS announced via Twitter in May that Two And A Half Men was picked up for another season. The network also confirmed Jones would not return to the show.
Jones' made headlines when he posted his rant about the show on Youtube in November, 2011.
"If you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching Two and a Half Men," Angus says in his rant. "I'm on Two and a Half Men, and I don't want to be on it. Please stop watching it, and filling your head with filth."
Kutcher's upcoming film Jobs will arrive in theaters on Aug. 16, while season 11 of Two And A Half Men will premiere in September.
