A group of teenagers recently went viral on TikTok wearing blackface in a Boston Sephora.

A bystander in the store recorded a video of teen girls using tester foundation to paint their faces black while giggling and making animal sounds. A seemingly disturbed Sephora employee confronted the adult accompanying the girls. After exchanging words, the adult and girls casually walked away.

The TikTok user who recorded the incident can be heard saying, "This is so wild."

"This is so shameful...this is so shameful," she reiterated.

"Genuinely so disgusted and disturbed. My Teammates and I arrived in Boston for a track meet this weekend and walked around Sephora before dinner to kill time. These group of teenage girls and their mothers come in and go to the makeup section to use the sample for blackface whilst giggling and making animal sounds," the caption read. "The Sephora worker (lady in black) confronted them and the mother dismisses her and walks off. After I stopped filming, both mothers came to press me to delete the video of their blatant racism because 'they did not consent."

Blackface invokes a painful and dark history dating back to minstrel shows of the mid-19th century.

White performers painted themselves black and exaggerated frayed and torn attire to embody a stereotypical Black character. This was a form of humiliation for Blacks in America.

Fellow TikTokers weighed in. "Old enough to be in Sephora, old enough to know better," one viewer said. Another wrote: "@sephora we need answers."

"I can't wait until they start identifying them," another follower commented. "They need to be banned from Sephora."

The identity of the mothers and girls have yet to surface.
