Police have not yet determined what set off the shooting, but three people are in police custody.

Shots were fired shortly Kelce, Mahomes, and the rest of the team took the stage and spoke to fans at a victory rally celebrating their NFL championship win against the San Francisco 49ers during Super Bowl Sunday.

The shooting appeared to have begun after the victory rally concluded, but players were still on stage, and the area remained packed with fans at the time.

A Kansas City Chiefs spokesperson announced via X, formerly Twitter, Wednesday that no one on the team was injured and that all "players, coaches, staff and their families are safe and accounted for."

"We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today's parade and rally," the spokesperson said.

"Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and all of Kansas City," the statement added.

Kelce attended the parade with his mother, Donna Kelce, to the celebration, as his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, jetted off to Australia for her next "Eras Tour" concert, Page Six reported.

Before the shooting, Kelce was photographed greeting and shaking the hands of fans who came to celebrate the Chiefs' back-to-back Super Bowl championship.

According to CNN, an estimated 1 million people were in downtown Kansas City for the Chiefs rally and parade.

Children were able to join the festivities due to the cancellation of classes that day in honor of the celebration.

"This is still an active investigation," Graves said.
